With an appreciation for outdoor spaces having grown immensely over the last few years, Artisan Landscapes place real focus on ensuring each piece of their gardens flow in sync with their clients' day-to-day lives.
There's a clear emphasis on layering in the design of this Clifton garden, from the different levels and defined spaces to the selection of trees and shrubbery. Unusual for a garden of its size, there was no requirement for a lawn, yet the space feels vibrantly green thanks to its grasses, flowers and leafy tree canopy. Working closely with the client's brief, Artisan Landscapes created an oasis abundant with wildlife, featuring quiet corners to relax in and sun-catching patios to spread out onto. Importantly, it's a space their clients will enjoy looking out onto from their windows all year round.
Seasonality is key to Artisan Landscapes' design approach, and with English summers being so fleeting, they gave careful consideration to how each space would evolve through the colder months. Decisions such as planting multi-stemmed trees and selecting the right materials are integral to creating year-round interest.
Alongside the planting and encouragement of wildlife, the materials chosen for the garden's structure have been selected for their durability and enduring aesthetic through the seasons. And while the result is undoubtedly beautiful, for Artisan Landscapes it's not just about looks - their aim is to transform the way their clients use their gardens, making them a natural extension of everyday life.
