Clifton Village's Hidden Gem

The Old Pottery is a testament to the beauty of clever design within constraints. Nestled in the heart of Clifton Village, Bristol, this new build home defies expectations. The small house spans two stories, with an intriguing twist—an "upside-down" layout. By placing the open-plan living space on the upper floor, EJ Studio ensured privacy while maximising natural light and views.

Owner and lead Architect Lizzie O'Neil poured immense thought into orchestrating the harmony of diverse elements within this confined site. The result? A delightful surprise for anyone who walks through its doors. To amplify the sense of spaciousness, Lizzie chose to leave the roof joists exposed. This design choice not only adds a palpable height but also serves as a striking visual divider within the space.

Efficiency Through Inbuilt Functionality

One of the secrets behind The Old Pottery's allure lies in its inbuilt furniture. In this compact setting, every square inch matters. By seamlessly integrating furniture into the architecture itself, two significant feats are achieved: expanding perceived space and enhancing functionality. Every corner has a purpose, making the house not just beautiful but highly usable.
