‘Six amazing years full of fantastic memories from St Werburghs. Installing decking outside when I first moved in has given me plenty of opportunities to sit with my friends, cooking around a fire pit, whiling away countless afternoons sat in the sun trap that is the rear garden - and in the winter months taking advantage of the large living room which easily holds a dining room table big enough to seat eight.
My ideal Sunday in St Werburghs would start with a trip to Napolita’s for their fantastic coffee and more often than not a friendly chat with the regulars and owners who never fail to bring a smile. Then off to Popti and Beast to treat myself to their amazing arrays of meat and huge range of freshly baked delights. The recent addition of a greengrocers next door has now made it possible to shop locally for everything. Then off for a walk, Purdown estate is an easy 15 minute stroll away along the cycle path, or if I wanted something closer there is always “the mound” or indeed just a quick stroll around Mina Rd Park itself. Then for lunch, it has to be either the Treehouse Cafe by the City Farm, or what I believe to be the best wraps in Bristol from Sonni’s. Come the afternoon a quick climb at either Bloc or TCA with some friends followed by a beer at Wiper and True, or Fierce & Noble for the craft connoisseurs. Or perhaps, for the more traditional, The Duke of York or sat on the grass at The Miners Arms. Come the evening I‘d be off to the Cauldron to perform for our monthly Jazz night to eat some fantastic food and entertain the local community which will forever provide me with the fondest of recollections. For me, St Werburghs captures the epitome of Bristol life and its ethos.’
