‘I chose my house on the basis of being two minutes’ walk to The Greenbank in one direction and two minutes’ walk to the yoga studio (sadly no more) in the other, with Este almost opposite!
I’d planned to move here years before, eventually making it in early 2020.
Everyone who lives in this area praises the community here and this was especially important moving not long before the first lockdown. One neighbour, who became a friend for life, immediately set up a WhatsApp group for us to help each other out. In those dark days, several of us would stay out in our front gardens chatting after the Thursday 8pm clapping for carers.
There is a wide variety of people and age groups here, with something for everyone. People stop outside my house and say how much they love the colours and the flowers and how uplifting it is - I made another life long friend in this way! I’ve made what was a plain house into a colourful, welcoming home, and filled my garden (where, weather permitting, I breakfast every day) with lush plants. But I can make a home anywhere, it’s the good friends I’ve made here I’ll miss. I know I’ll be back to visit and they’ll visit me at the seaside!‘

This house is situated in Greenbank, close to the Cemetery. This particular pocket of just a few roads is in very high demand. The area is shielded from any through-traffic due to the position of Rosemary Green, Greenbank Cemetery and the Bristol to Bath Railway Path, which surrounds the area. The Frome Valley Walkway, is another option for cycling or walking into the centre and runs all the way up to the Cotswold Hills in Gloucestershire.
Residents of this area are extremely complimentary about the neighbourhood and local community. The area benefits from its proximity to Bristol City Centre, two local train stations and the M32, making it very accessible to commuters.
