Property details

"Berrow Walk feels like a real hidden gem, a cul de sac in walking distance of the best of BS3 with a feel of the countryside. It has the sixteenth century farmhouse at the end of the road, and trees and birdsong in abundance. We knew we wanted to make this place our home as soon as we saw the garden, the size of which is so unusual in Bristol. It was once very loved by the previous owners, with fruit trees galore, veg beds etc but had become neglected over the years and just needed some enthusiastic gardeners to bring it back to life. We worked with Carlton of Practical Architects to improve the layout and flow of the house and bring it up to date as a modern family home with a focus on connection to the garden and bringing in light. Joe and his team from JM Builders made this vision a reality in exceptionally difficult circumstances during the first lockdown of 2020. Our favourite thing about Berrow Walk is the feeling of peace and privacy in the garden where you could close your eyes and forget you’re in the city, yet you can walk in a few minutes to Victoria Park and the incredible Windmill Hill City Farm, or not much further you can get to the amazing cafes of North St or Wells Rd, or to the buzzy atmosphere of the docks."

Berrow Walk is a quiet cul-de-sac between the popular suburbs of Bedminster and Knowle. One of the real benefits of this house is the amount and variety of parks and green spaces within a short distance. Victoria Park, Perretts Park, Redcatch Park and Community Garden and Arnos Vale Cemetery are all within easy reach of the house, providing brilliant open spaces for the summer or for walking the dog all year round. The area is easily commutable from Bristol City Centre, approximately 30 minutes walk, and is also conveniently located for those looking to get over to Bristol Temple Meads or Bedminster Train Stations. The area is also well equipped for Schools with Victoria Park Primary being a short walk away and has been voted 'Bristol's Best School'. The area also has lots of amenities on the doorstep with the Wells Road and North Street being equidistant from the house and both offering a large range of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. The Victoria Park pub is a short stroll away and a great spot for a Sunday lunch or a beer in the garden. Closer still, St Johns Lane is home to both The Park Bakery and the fantastic new edition of Corner Stores (from the owners of Fox and West) where you can get your pastries and a quality coffee.

This end of terrace house has been wonderfully refurbished and extended by its current owners creating a one-of-a-kind property in the BS3 area. Downstairs there is an open hallway with views directly through to the garden, with living room to the front, and a utility/shower room, then the rear of the house opens up to a magnificent kitchen/diner/family room. This room has been extended to create a bright and spacious room with bi-folding corner doors, window seat, skylights, exposed brick wall and wooden beams. Upstairs there is a modern family bathroom and three bedrooms. The 85 foot garden to the rear is unusually generous for the area, with a variety of seating spots amongst fruit trees, raised vegetable beds, a pergola, daybed, and a pond, alongside plenty of lawn space (including an unusual wildflower lawn). The house also has a driveway to the front, tiered planting designed to bring in nature, and space for both a store shed and a bike shed.
